Hey freeheelers - we've some great events lined up for you this winter.

Telemark Week

Dates: Sunday night August 6th - Saturday morning August 12th 2017

Join our highly successful Telemark Week when freeheelers to get together, "chew the fat", get in some great turns and touch up on their technique.

We'll be offering lessons through the week for all abilities. Our two Broken River Telemark instructors, Claire and Jim give lessons through the week. Lessons will provide you with a "toolbox" of techniques to help you ski confidently in a variety of conditions and terrain.

Lessons are included in the Skiweek package outlined below. For day visitors or people on shorter packages standard lessons rates apply.

Make sure you bring your favourite tipple and some snacks for drinks on the ridge at sunset.

Price: The best deal is by booking our special Sunday-to-Saturday 6 night/7 day package, which includes 3 complimentary group lessons (but does not include instruction given in the Telemark Off-Piste Skills Course).

Standard accommodation rates apply if you can only stay a few nights.

Who can attend: The telemark week is open to anyone, including those who would like to learn to telemark. We have a limited amount of telemark gear (skis and boots) for hire at a very minimal rate. So if you are interested hiring gear please email us at

We're planning some fun social activities through the week and if conditions are right might be able to tour over to some neighbouring basins.

Telemark Off-Piste Skills Course

Ideal training for backcountry touring and amping up the fun factor. Participants in past courses made all amazing progress with their skiing and agreed this was an excellent course!

Dates: Wednesday 9th to Friday 11th August 2017.

Take your skiing to the next level with this 3-day intensive telemark course. This course will help you:

We're incredibly fortunate to have New Zealand Ski Instructors Alliance Examiner Marti Smith taking this course. The course consists of two 1.5 hour sessions each day with with evening video analysis. There will be free time during each day to put your new skills into practise.

Price: $290 Nonmembers, $180 Members. Minimum of 4 participants required for course to run. Standard accommodation and lift ticket rates apply in addition to the course price.

BR's Black Diamond Freeheel Fun Weekend

Dates: Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th August 2017.

Stay on for the weekend and join us for for our annual Freeheel Fun weekend. This event draws in telemarkers from far and wide is a great chance to get together with other freeheeling fanatics.The weekend is a mix of fun events, socialising and clinics.
