Craig Clark - Broken River Ski School Director

I Started skiing at the age of 7 and teaching at 15 in Ontario, Canada.  After finishing 
University I started to travel, ski and instruct in British Colombia, Australia, New 
Zealand and most recently in Japan. It has been great continuing to develop and seeing 
teaching tactics from different associations throughout my travels.  I look to make my 
lessons a fun experience while making students happy with their accomplishments.

Craig started skiing at the age of 7 and teaching at 15 in Ontario, Canada.  Since finishing University Craig has instructed and skied around the world, in British Columbia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and most recently in Italy and Switzerland. His travels have ensured his continuing development as an instructor, observing teaching tactics from different instructing associations around the globe.  Craig likes to make his lessons a fun experience while ensuring students are happy with their achievements. Sam Worsp – Ski and Snowboard Instructor

Our Mountain Manager Sam Worsp is also part of the Broken River Ski School team. Sam started his long ski career at the tender age of 4 at Whakapapa’s Happy Valley on Mt. Ruapehu. Since those first fun days of sliding, Sam has followed the snow all around the world working seasons in Canada’s Lake Louise, Japan’s Snowy Niseko, and here in New Zealand at Hanmer Springs and of course Broken River. Sam currently holds a NZSIA Level II Instructors Certificate. When not working at Broken River Sam is self-employed as a Graphic Designer.

Claire Newell - Telemark Instructor

Claire grew up skiing at Broken River and has many fond memories of sliding around the slopes here. After many years of alpine skiing Claire was introduced to telemarking by her future husband Jim. She has enjoyed the challenge of learning to telemark and is passionate about helping others to enjoy this sport. Claire holds her NZSIA Level II Telemark certificate. Off the snow Claire is also the Marketing Manager for Broken River and works part-time as a Plant Ecologist.

Jim Henderson - Telemark Instructor

Jim started skiing in his early 20's at Broken River and started telemark skiing while working down at Scott Base, Antartica for a year. He has never looked back and has continued to promote this sport and encourage others in their telemarking. Jim holds his NZSIA Level II Telemark certificate. When the boards aren't strapped to his feet, you'll find Jim exploring the mountains on foot, both through work and with the family.
